Three most important ingredients that makes “The secret sauce of our Smartness”
1 Our genes
2 Our Environment
3 Our individual effort
With the genes that has been passed on through generations our ancestors helped us shape up who we are today. Our parents have given us the environment that enabled us to grow to our full potential.
As a child we had minimal influence on the environment that nurtured and brought us up. We absolutely had no power in deciding the gene that has built us up.
But, as an adult, our individual effort plays a very important role in deciding our health. It would be easy to assume physical exercises will guarentee a better physical health for us, for our future. Likewise if we keep ourselves engaged in mental tasks of everyday life, we can maximize our mental ability and postpone dementia. Reading, writing, painting,, perhaps our mundane regular job that prompt us tickle our brain …
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body…. True!!!
But many of us may not be aware, that one of the key factor that decides our mental ability as we grow older is “Physical exercise”. Our long term physical health directly influences our brain, as we grow old. Our heart that decides the fate of our brain.
Afterall heart is the pump that nourishes the every part of the body including the brain, without fail every second of our lives. If the cardiovascular (physical) health is compromised, brain’s nourishment at stake. If we stop physical exercises we not only increase the chances of stroke, but also expedite the onset of dementia.
To prevent stroke … Run everyday
To postpone the inevitable dementia… walk everyday
To remain mentally smart … Dance with passion, Indulge in aerobics, Strike your shuttlecock or perhaps commit your selves with yoga. Pick up your favourite physical activity and persevere
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
